Balloch Park Cross Country 26th Nov 05

A good turnout for the 2nd race in this years cross country series, the first Club XC.

Fears of arctic conditions proved unfounded as 13 athletes took to Balloch Park on Saturday morning in calm sunny conditions. Underfoot was as good as it gets round the park with the course marker struggling to find a decent stretch of mud.

As luck would have it a willing victim was on hand to handle the timekeeping, cheers Hugh.
Plenty of Tea / Coffee & cakes served once everyone finished

Times as noted below, Ladies 2 laps, Gents 3 laps, except for JP who enjoyed the pain of the 3rd lap, well done.

2 Laps
GC 31.24, PD 32.48, ED 33.36, CD 34.22

3 Laps
SC 32.10, AQ 34.41(Guest), AG 34.52, SJ 36.11, TMcC 37.31, JM 38.59, JMcK 40.49, JP 42.11(Guest), JR 49.52

Glasgow Uni 5 Mile Road Race 19th Nov 05

4 Millies ventured out into the cold November air for this short sharp roller coaster of a race.

The event is organised by the Glasgow Uni running club. It has good changing facilities and a cafe which combine to offer thermal and nutritional refuge from the elements, especially welcome at this time of year.

The race caters for all standards of runner evident from the near 300 entrants of all ages and abilities. The winner completed the course in less than 25 minutes through to last place in just under the hour.

The race starts in the Garscube Sports Ground opposite the Science Park in Maryhill Rd and winds its way down to Gt Western Rd and back up again via Kinfauns drive before a deceptivley long last mile (just what you need when you are knackered) including a short sharp climb back up towards the Sportsground.

Results, SC 31.04, SJ 34.56, IP 50.2, JMcI 50.2

A good race!

Eddies 1/2 Marathon - 6th Nov '05

A good turnout of millies grateful to be taken up by JR in the bus, he must like driving to take us lot.

After reaching Fort William in good time the party undertook a 4 mile rally into outback territory. 1st out the bus were the walkers Mrs R & Mrs M, very brave considering the gale force winds and horizontal rain.

The rest sat tight until race headquarters in Fort Bill was reached. The conditions for the race were wet++ with a lot of wind on the exposed sections especially the last 3-4 miles. However even allowing for the conditions several runners achieved PB's, great effort and surely more to come given a similar course and better conditions.

Official results...
SJ 1.37.55, ES 1.40.26, DH 1.41.46 (West Dumby), JMcK 1.45.49, GC 1.54.02, JH 1.58.58, CC 2.02.30, JM 2.07.18, PD 2.08.18, JR 2.11.19, CD 2.15.41, AS 2.16.20

Return journey was celebrated by some and generally very entertaining for the rest.

No race pictures available, the only shot available is somewhat typical of the day!
