Kilpatrick Hill Race

Recovery race after Jura, set off near the back, took it easy up the road, jog walk up the zig zags running more towards the top. Single file across the heather pick up the effort once onto the farm road. Managed to.overtake a few.  Back on heathery stuff then the awkward run alongside Greenside reservoir, better marking of the spikes this year and onto the last climb up the slacks, undulating start to the descent then down towards the zig zags, manage to pass a couple before the last half mile on the road to finish in about 65 mins.

Kilpatricks Hill Race

First run since Slioch, took it easy on the road then easier up the hill, started running once through the zig zags up onto the heathery moor and across to the track. Off track again and down towards the lochside, managed to avoid the nasty looking fence post remnants, walked the first part of the slacks until I caught the cyclist then managed to run to the top, steady run across to the zig zag descent back to the road, managed to pass a few, ran into finish just over 67 mins.

Glen Loin and Kilpatricks

Snow plastered hills this weekend, Saturday opted for a run round Glen Loin staying well below the white crags above. The trail winding up the Glen soon snow covered, sleet turning to snow, upper Glen over 6" deep makes for a good workout, ran down trails through the forest for a few hundred yards of snow free running, finishing inside 2 hours. Sunday, warmer, wetter and windier, 10 miles in the Kilpatrick's, starting off from the gas station, followed the road up and round till the race route rejoins, left the RR just past Loch Humphrey on a trail round the first couple of Duncolm tops then climbing the last one. Soggy path back to Greenside reservoir, instead of the Slacks we set off down a farm track into the back of Duntocher, to finish a trail runs along the back of the cemetry to the gas station, just over two hours today.

Water weekend of running

New ground today, started at the back of Duntocher and ran a lollipop route up to Jaw reservoir, along past Cochno loch to Cochno Hill, past Greenside reservoir to the Slacks, past loch Humphrey to Duncolm,

From Duncolm we ran along towards then round Kilmannan reservoir, a wander through forestry eventually popping out behind Black Loch, round Black Loch and Jaw reservoir for the run back down to Duntocher. About 12 miles and 2000' of undulations, a mixture of nice grassy paths, forest roads and some boggy stuff. All runnable apart from some forestry bits where we had to clamber through fallen trees, newly cut stumps and ditches. Low cloud most of the way so only hints that the views are worth catching. Finished in just over three hours including a detour to the Three Graves. Some pictures here. Easy Sunday run, took the trail behind Carman reservoir and up through the Quarry to the Fort, race route back to the house, 5 miles and 1000'.
