Cort Ma Law hill race

A dry less boggy run this year, straight into the tough climb at the start, walk and jog trying to save something for the run round to the Leckett. Onto the top and the route undulates up across a few wee tops, working hard to keep up/ahead of the runners I reached the top with. Across the bogs, relatively dry this year easier to maintain a steady pace. One overtook me on the run into the gully. Plod out the gully then jog to the fence crossing, run back across to the final descent using whatever energy left to keep my place.

Finished in about 74 mins.

Cort Ma Law hill race

Great conditions for this race blue skies and a breeze to keep the midges away. Kit checked and we were off and running slowly up the steep trail to the Lairs then CML. Ran most of the way to the top, a couple of short walks on steep rocky parts. Pick up the pace as the gradient eases, over a few minor tops and a couple of bogs before the top of CML always people to pass and a few getting past me. CML to Lecket hill fun, the bogs not as big this year but still slows other people more than me. Steady run into the gulley keeping something for the climb out and run back. Short walk then manage a slow jog through the tussocks gradually increasing the effort. Over the fence onto smoother turf keep pushing and passing other runners. Hit the downslope hard and pick off another 3 or so runners to finish under 69 minutes, about 3 minutes quicker than last year.

Cort Ma Law Hill Race

Not sure about this one after the last couple of weekend races, lovely night and went for it, arriving not long before the start and parking away up the road, warm up to and from registration and the car. Uphill start, ran the first part then dropped into a steady walk with occasional jog on the flat bits. Ran the last couple of ups onto the top. Running now, a bit of recovery then a wee bit faster from the lairs to CML summit. Bogs very kind tonight along to Leckett Hill, fast down into the gulley, a bit slower coming out, jogging again back to the last fence crossing, then its relax and run as hard as possible across the boggy undulations and brakes off down a final steep km or so back to the finish inside 72 minutes.

Cort Ma Law

Boggiest of the Bog n Burn series, 6 miles with 1500' or so of ascent. Clear cool evening, bigger field this year. Didn't try to run all of the initial climb, jogged and walked, keep the jog going  towards the top and along a series of up undulations with a few boggy bits to get you in the mood. From the top of CML to Lecket hill is where the fun starts, band after band of emerald green bog to negotiate, initially ok, tussock to tussock, gradually going into oxygen debt, the last couple, a launch and hope, knee deep. From Lecket a short gallop down muddy tussocks and tracks, slow walk out the gulley, gradually start to jog, one last bog, caught, thigh deep, face down, crawl, running again over the style and a few undulations trying to gain and not lose places. A final fast run down to finish just over 71 minutes.

Cort Ma Law

Drizzly low cloud greeted us, full kit and full kit check for all and body count before the start. The field spread out, mostly ahead on the run walk up the steep slope from Campsie Glen. Steady running past a few minor tops and a few minor bogs on the way to CML. Fun started on the way to Lecket Hill, bog city, good ones where I stepped on mostly tussocks, some I didn't and further along resorting to jump, dive, grab the far side and pull myself up while trying to overtake and not be overtaken, all too soon we started the short climb to the top of Lecket followed by a boggy run into the gulley. Felt fine on the slow trudge back to the crossover ran where I could avoiding too much of a plunge into the last big bog. Undulating run back and down the steep grassy bank to finish in about 74 minutes.
