Ardgarten Trail run

Very windy, planned a low level trail run from Ardgarten to Succoth round Glen Loin and back to Ardgarten, set off from the Ardgarten forest car park up to Honeymoon Bridge Car Park and onto the trail towards Glen Loin, the trail undulates up for a couple of miles before it joins the Glen Loin loop another 4 miles of climb to a stream crossing.

Ford across the allt Coiregrogain

The stream had turned into a raging torrent, turned and went back the way I came!

Plenty of water

The Brack

About 14 miles which was slightly shorter than planned and a bit easier, finished just over 2 1/2 hours.

Ben Bowie and Killoeter

Same route as last week except reversed the outer loop, did Ben Bowie first then Killoeter. Jacket on for a change to cope with the misty drizzle at the start, drizzle didn't last long but not too many views, the islands in Loch Lomond vague grey outlines on a grey surface.

Very few people out on the route today, saw 2 hill walkers at the fort and three mountain bikers as I crossed the Three Lochs Way. Plenty of wild flowers made up for the lack of views.

Found a better route through the trees dropping off Killoeter, avoiding all of the ferns. Access points to the forest seem to be marked with white tape leading you to branch free paths. Finished inside three hours, which seems to be the usual for this run.

WHW

Poor weather forecast and went for a trail run from Garadhban to Balmaha and back, follwoing the WHW over Conics shoulder. Started just after 8, not many out at that time, over Conic and down into Balmaha, a few more people out on the WHW now. Turned back and took in 3 of Conics summits running down the back re-joining the WHW about half way down. Started snowing for a while on the way back, passed some more walkers and a few runners, finished the 10 plus miles inside 3 hours.

Ardgarten Trails

Not a great forecast so back to Ardgarten for more trail running, early start to beat the storm, turned out fine, didn't neeed a jacket. Planned route from Ardgarten to Honeymoon bridge Car Park, onto the upper trail round to Glen Loin, round the Glen Loin loop in a clockwise direction rejoining the trail to Ardgarten taking the lower track down to Ardgarten, finishing inside 3 1/2 hours, the last half hour pretty slow, new Inov8 Roclite trail shoes worked ok.
